Community
People Loving People
While a Christian’s relationship with God should always remain primary, we express that relationship in community with others. According to 1 John 4:21, “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” Jesus himself interacted with crowds of people wherever he went.
At Lawson Road we have a simple goal of “Making the world a better place“. Fundamentally, this includes sharing God’s Good News with people and studying the Bible. However, this goal also includes practical ways to demonstrate God’s love that make other people’s lives a little easier. Some of our efforts include: Establishing Northgate Community Garden; Supporting local elementary schools; Hosting AA meetings; Holding cookouts at local apartment complexes, and Maintaining a “little library” for our neighborhood.
Even if church isn’t your thing, we’d love to work with you on these projects as we strive to bring some joy to people around us.
Children’s Ministry
Children form an important part of the Lawson Road family. Each Sunday we care for children and their parents in several ways:
At 11:00am each Sunday we have Bible Classes with age appropriate lessons for children from toddlers to high school.
During worship we have a staffed nursery available for parents to care for their children or drop them off.
Teen Ministry
• In addition to Sunday Bible classes, the Lawson Road teens meet
regularly throughout the year for a variety of activities.
These events include both spiritual activities and events designed
to build relationships. During summer the church provides each
teen the opportunity to attend Camp Hunt for at least one week.
• In addition to regular events, the teens attend youth events with
other churches around the state.
• Teens who are interested also enjoy the opportunity to help video
stream our worship serves each Sunday.
Growth Groups
Growth Groups provide a great opportunity for newcomers at Lawson Road to meet people and build deeper relationships. These groups of 5-15 people meet throughout the school year in homes across the city.
Joining a Growth Group does not require attendance at worship on Sunday. While the groups generally discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon, they provide an opportunity to explore any faith questions that may bother you. Most meetings last 1 – 1.5 hours and consist of coffee and prayer, along with Bible discussion.
We call these meetings Growth Groups because we believe that can help people grow:
• Closer to God;
• Closer to each other; and
• In diversity as new people are invited.
Contact the church office if you’re interested in joining a group
near you.
Community Garden
Lawson Road launched the Northgate Community Garden on our property in 2015. Each year since then has seen increased community involvement. We now have 25 garden beds available for the public.
Both church and community members are allocated garden beds to grow whatever vegetables or flowers they wish. The church provides water for all gardeners.
Diaper Giveaway
Each May we collect and distribute diapers to young families in our community. To date, we have assisted close to 500 families through this giveaway.
Walk 4 Water
Each summer we host a Walk 4 Water. This 4 mile fundraising walk raises money to drill wells for communities around the world without access to clean water.
The walk is held in partnership with with Healing Hands International. We welcome anyone in the community to join us in this walk or to donate to our fundraising effort. You can see more about our walk, or donate, HERE.

RECONCILE
God reconciled us to himself through Christ and
gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
Paul the Apostle, 2 Corinthians 5:18
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
The King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever
you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.
