…so what is a Walk 4 Water anyway?

Lawson Road Church of Christ in Greece has partnered for several years with Healing Hands International, a faith-based nonprofit which provides clean water, sustainable farming, business development, and resources for communities around the globe who are in need.

This will be the sixth year the church has sponsored a HHI Walk4Water event. The walk is a fundraiser to secure money for drilling wells. To date HHI has drilled more than 1,000 wells providing clean water to remote communities! A typical walk involves preregistering using the button above, where you can set up a personal fundraising page for online donations. We walk 4 miles (average distance round trip to secure water from an unclean source in some countries) taking turns carrying gerry cans of water so we better appreciate their hardship. Contaminated water leads to illnesses. Children often miss school to haul water. Our goal of $10,000 will drill one well.

If you’d like to help change one village at a time, you are invited to participate with us in the Rochester Walk4Water on Sunday, August 27, 2023. This year’s walk begins at the Millenium Lodge in Greece Canal Park.church. Registration is at 1:00 pm and the walk begins at 1:30. Participants may spontaneously show up the day of the walk, but pre-registration is encouraged so we have adequate water, snacks and t-shirts! Can’t walk but wish to donate?
